Arbat Massage Studio Case Study

This project came to life quickly and organically. Following our methodology, we began with careful space zoning. The client had a compact room with a bathroom located in Moscow's historic center, near Arbat Street. Using it for residential purposes or commercial rental wasn't feasible due to its first-floor location in a business district. Since the client specializes in self-massage equipment sales, we made the strategic decision to create a specialized neck and shoulder massage studio. This area is commonly tense among office workers who spend long hours at computers. A significant advantage of this specialization is the brief duration of procedures – 15-20 minutes, perfect for lunch breaks or between work tasks. Unlike full-body massages that take an hour or more, these short sessions don't cause notable absence from work.

The result was a compact yet functional massage studio design featuring two specialized chairs, a cozy waiting area, and retail space with a display window. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a professional receptionist, whose workspace is surrounded by ergonomically arranged shelves displaying massage equipment and related products. The massage area is separated from the reception and shop by a thick curtain, which doesn't overwhelm the space. A therapeutic gong became a special design element, its sound waves and vibrations effectively serving as an additional element of massage therapy, creating a unique atmosphere of wellness and relaxation.
